Visiting a new beauty salon or spa for the first time can feel a little intimidating if you aren’t sure what to expect. Whether you are treating yourself to a fresh facial, getting a spray tan for a weekend at the beach, or trying a Russian manicure for the very first time, a little preparation goes a long way.

At City Glow, we believe your self-care routine should be relaxing, approachable, and totally stress-free from the moment you walk through our doors. Here is everything you need to know to prepare for your first visit with us in Brickell.

1. Decide What Your Body Needs

When you book your appointment, knowing your goals helps our team give you the absolute best results. Our most popular services for first-timers include:

  • Skincare & Facials: From clearing out pores to deep hydration and glow-boosting facials.
  • Nail Care: Beautiful, chip-free Dry Russian Manicures and Smart Pedicures by our exclusive partner, The Glow Gloss.
  • Body Wellness: Gentle body contouring, lymphatic drainage, and ultrasonic cavitation.
  • The Miami Glow: Natural-looking custom spray tans and virtually painless waxing.

Not sure where to start? We highly recommend booking a consultation so our friendly estheticians can help you build a routine that fits your goals and your budget.

2. How to Prep for Your Appointment

A little bit of at-home prep helps make sure you get the best, longest-lasting results from your treatment:

  • For a Spray Tan: Exfoliate your whole body 24 hours before your appointment. On the day of your visit, skip the lotion, deodorant, and perfume, and bring loose, dark clothing to wear home.
  • For Waxing: Make sure your hair is at least 1/4 inch long (about the length of a grain of rice) so our gentle hard wax can easily grip the hair.
  • For a Facial: Take a break from harsh exfoliants, retinoids, or at-home peels for about 3 to 5 days before your appointment to protect your skin barrier.
  • For a Russian Manicure: Just come exactly as you are! Because our e-file technique is completely dry, you don't need to do any prep or soaking beforehand.

3. Come a Little Early to Settle In

Your spa day shouldn't feel rushed. We recommend arriving about 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. This gives you time to grab a complimentary drink, catch your breath, and fill out any quick intake forms about your skin history or sensitivities.

4. Just Talk to Us!

Your esthetician or nail artist is on your team! Before we start your treatment, we will have a quick chat with you. Be honest about your current at-home routine, any allergies, or past experiences at other salons that didn't go so well.

  • Want a very light, natural-looking spray tan instead of a deep bronze? Let us know!
  • Have a specific shape in mind for your nails? Bring a picture!

Our team at City Glow just wants you to feel totally comfortable and thrilled with your results. There are no wrong questions here.

5. Easy Aftercare

Taking care of your skin doesn't stop when you leave the salon chair. Before you head out, we'll give you super easy instructions for maintaining your results at home. For example, we might remind you to wait 8 hours before showering after a spray tan, or give you tips on keeping your skin hydrated after a facial.

If you love how you look and feel, ask us about the City Glow Memberships, which make it super easy and affordable to keep up with your beauty routine every month!
